Books I've Read
by Doug Mack
This book unexpectedly charmed me. Very enjoyable read. This goes on my "favorites" list.
Excellent. Primarily just scripture, but the organization is exactly what I was after.
Took a while for the story to become interesting, and the references to CDs and DVDs pulled me out of the story every single time, but overall it's a pretty good tale.
Seasonally appropriate, but for the most part lacking the insight and inspiration I sought. The last essay/sermon, however, about Thomas was very good and has completely changed how I think about Thomas.
Favorite Books Ever
- Embassytown by China Miéville
- American Gods by Neil Gaiman
- Dune by Frank Herbert

Random Quote That May or May Not Be Significant
In the end, it was the Sunday afternoons he couldn't cope with, and that terrible listlessness that starts to set in about 2:55, when you know you've taken all the baths that you can usefully take that day, that however hard you stare at any given paragraph in the newspaper you will never actually read it, or use the revolutionary new pruning technique it describes, and that as you stare at the clock the hands will move relentlessly on to four o'clock, and you will enter the long dark teatime of the soul.
~Douglas Adams, Life, the Universe and Everything

The first one is the home of my wonderful neighbors Victor and Christine. Thank you for not taking a picture of the whole block, since somehow this year I’ve become the ONLY house on that stretch that does not have lights up, and my lack of electrical holiday gaiety would have been obvious. I have a wreath up, but I look like Scrooge anyway. Just a wreath doesn’t cut it any more, festivity-wise.
I thought you might recognize your street :-). I drove by on my way home from work and really liked the deer over the porch.
How delightful to find this appreciation! The reindeer were just put up in this picture, they now sport their holiday ribbons. My father built these reindeer, and we cherish them. For my husband Victor, putting them on the porch roof signals the start of the season.
Merry Christmas, Capitol Hill!
Peace on Earth,
Christine
Thank you for adding Christmas cheer with them! I thought they were really cute. I’ll have to check out their holiday ribbons!
